About

Umitamago ('sea egg') is known across Japan for unusually close, interactive animal experiences: walruses that trundle out to meet visitors, seals and sea lions at eye level, and a dolphin performance area by the sea with the bay behind. The main tank recreates Bungo Channel marine life, and the outdoor Asobeach area lets kids play with animals and sand. Shows run throughout the day. It's on the coast road between Beppu and Oita, 15 minutes by bus from Beppu, and a pedestrian bridge links it to Takasakiyama.
