About

Sankeien was created by silk merchant Hara Sankei and opened to the public in 1906. Around ponds and wooded hills stand relocated historic structures such as a former Tomyoji pagoda, a samurai residence and a gassho-zukuri farmhouse. Seasonal flowers and teahouses make it one of the Kanto region's finest gardens.
