About
The cemetery began when Commodore Perry buried one of his sailors on the hill in 1854 and was formally designated for foreigners in 1861. Inscriptions tell the stories of traders, engineers and teachers who shaped modern Yokohama. A small section is opened to visitors on weekends and holidays in exchange for a donation.
