Kirin's Yokohama brewery stands in Namamugi, near the spot where the 1862 Namamugi Incident helped tip Japan towards the Meiji Restoration. Its "Ichiban Shibori Freshness Experience Tour" lasts about 90 minutes: you learn how Kirin's flagship first-press beer is made, taste the difference between first- and second-press wort, look over the brewhouse and packaging lines, and finish with fresh beer straight from the brewery. There is a version for groups including under-20s, who get soft drinks. Afterwards the brick Kirin Yokohama Beer Hall and Beer Port barbecue restaurant serve beer with dishes using Kanagawa produce. From April 2026 tours must be prepaid by card when booking.
