About

Kawasaki Racecourse is one of the four Minami Kanto local (NAR) tracks, racing on dirt under lights in the evening for much of the year, a series branded "Sparking Night". Admission is a token ¥100, and you can stand at the rail as the field thunders past, wander to the paddock to see the horses up close and eat cheap stall food with a crowd of regulars. The final race often goes off around 20:50, so it fits neatly into an evening near Haneda. Big races such as the Kawasaki Kinen draw serious crowds, and summer brings festivals with bon dancing and outdoor films. Free shuttle buses run from the station on race days.
