About

Kawasaki Marien is the port authority's public building on the reclaimed island of Higashi-Ogishima, and its tower holds a free observation room at about 51 m. On the island's edge, it looks across the Keihin industrial zone, a forest of flare stacks, pipes, tanks and conveyors that light up after dark in the "kojo yakei" (factory night view) style that has made Kawasaki famous among night photographers. To the north, planes stream into Haneda; to the east, ships pass the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, and on clear days you see the Boso Peninsula. Open until 21:00, it is the easiest way to see Kawasaki's night views without a tour.
