Inamuragasaki Park 稲村ヶ崎公園
A small cliff-top headland between Yuigahama and Shichirigahama with one of the most celebrated sunset views in Shonan: Enoshima and Mount Fuji across the bay.
About
Inamuragasaki is a rocky cape jutting into Sagami Bay, and the park on its top is a tiny green terrace above the sea. From the rocky beach below and the viewpoint above you look along Shichirigahama to Enoshima, with Mount Fuji behind it on clear days. It is a site of history too: in 1333 Nitta Yoshisada is said to have thrown his sword into the sea here to make the tide recede so his army could attack Kamakura, ending the Kamakura shogunate. A memorial to the members of the Zushi Kaisei Middle School rowing crew lost at sea in 1910 stands nearby. Photographers gather on the rocks at sunset, especially in winter when the sun sets near Fuji.
Highlights
- Classic Shonan sunset view of Enoshima with Mount Fuji behind
- Rocky beach below the headland, good for tide-pooling at low tide
- Site of Nitta Yoshisadas legendary 1333 attack on Kamakura
- Quiet compared with Yuigahama and Enoshima
