About
The Great Buddha is the symbol of Kamakura and the second-largest bronze Buddha in Japan. The hall that once housed it was washed away in the 15th century, so the statue now sits outdoors against a wooded backdrop. For a small extra fee visitors can step inside the hollow statue.
