About

Tennozu Isle's canal-side warehouses have been reinvented by storage company Terrada as an art district, and WHAT MUSEUM is its flagship: the name stands for "WAREHOUSE OF ART TERRADA". Exhibitions draw on Japanese private collections of contemporary art that are otherwise kept in storage, and on architecture, with a companion "Kenchiku Soko" space displaying hundreds of architects' models, from Kengo Kuma to emerging studios. The raw, high-ceilinged warehouse spaces suit large works, and after a visit you can walk the boardwalks along the canal, past murals, cafes and craft-beer bars. It is a monorail ride from Haneda and pairs well with an afternoon in Shinagawa.
