About
Legend says Hojo Masako, wife of Minamoto no Yoritomo, stopped here around 1185-90, saw Mt. Fuji clearly from the hill and placed a Kannon statue to pray for her husband. The shrine is dedicated to Konohanasakuya-hime, the goddess of Mt. Fuji. The hilltop beside the hall looks over the Tama River toward Mt. Fuji and the Futako-Tamagawa skyline.
