Sumida Aquarium is compact but beautifully done: the open-air penguin pool with Magellanic penguins (and their soap-opera relationship charts), a huge Tokyo-island marine tank, the Edo Ryukin goldfish exhibition, a dreamy jellyfish floor called Aqua Lab, and a garden-eel colony. Evening hours turn the space moody and romantic, and it pairs naturally with the Skytree observation decks upstairs. Buy online in advance for a slight discount.
