Shinjuku has the largest concentration of coin lockers in Japan (thousands of units across JR, Odakyu, Keio, Toei and Tokyo Metro), but finding a free large one at 11:00 on a Saturday is a sport. The West Exit ground-floor concourse and the passage toward the Odakyu and Keio department stores are dense with lockers including L sizes. Touchscreen lockers here let you pay by Suica or PASMO and use the card as the key. If everything is full, the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center at the West Exit offers staffed storage.

- Large lockers fill by ~10:00 at weekends and holidays
- Keep track of which exit you used, Shinjuku's 200+ exits make re-finding a locker surprisingly hard (take a photo of the bank number)
- Lockers rent per calendar day / 24h block and are usually emptied after 3 days, contents go to the station lost-property office
