About

Since 1970 BERG has fed commuters from a cramped spot inside the station building basement (now LUMINE EST B1), fiercely independent in a world of chains. They work with craftsman sausage makers and a top Tokyo bakery, serve hot dogs, German-style sausages, liver pâté sandwiches and properly kept draft beer from 7am, and the walls carry rotating photo exhibitions. Locals stand at counters reading or chatting alone; it is one of the busiest little spaces in the city and impossible to replicate.
