About

On the fourth floor of Panasonic's Tokyo headquarters, this museum is built around one of the world's major collections of Georges Rouault, the French painter of thickly outlined clowns, judges and Christ figures, with a small dedicated Rouault gallery shown in every exhibition. The rest of the space hosts three or four tightly focused shows a year, often on architecture, Art Nouveau, Japanese modern design or ceramics, which tend to draw design students rather than tourist crowds. The autumn 2026 exhibition is devoted to designer Yoshida Shoya and the postwar New Mingei movement (to Dec 20). Because the museum is small, an hour is usually enough, and it pairs easily with the free Advertising Museum Tokyo and Old Shimbashi Station a few minutes away.
