Omotesando Zelkova Avenue 表参道 けやき並木
The broad avenue from Harajuku to Aoyama lined with old zelkova trees and architect-designed flagship stores, a classic Tokyo boulevard shot in every season.
About
Stand on the wide pavement near Omotesando Hills on the north side and shoot downhill toward the Harajuku end: the double row of zelkova trees, flagship buildings by Tadao Ando, SANAA and Toyo Ito, and the slope of the road give strong depth. In spring the new leaves are bright green, in late November to December the trees turn golden, and in winters when the Omotesando illumination is held the branches carry warm lights. Late afternoon backlight through the leaves is lovely. It is a busy shopping street: no tripods, and step aside so people can pass.
