Omokado Mirrored Entrance (Tokyu Plaza Omotesando) 東急プラザ表参道「オモカド」 エントランス
The kaleidoscope-like mirrored escalator entrance at the Omotesando-Meiji-dori crossing, one of Harajuku's most photographed spots.
About
Enter Tokyu Plaza Omotesando 'Omokado' from the corner of the Jingumae crossing and ride or stand at the bottom of the first escalator: the ceiling and walls are faceted mirrors that break the escalator and passers-by into a kaleidoscope. The classic shot is from the foot of the escalator looking up, or from the top looking down with a wide lens. Weekday mornings shortly after opening are the quietest. It is a shop entrance, so keep moving on the escalator, do not stop at the top or bottom where people step off, and no tripods.
Highlights
- Kaleidoscope mirror escalator entrance
- Works for selfies, portraits and abstract shots
- Rooftop terrace with trees on the upper floor
- Right at the Omotesando and Meiji-dori crossing
Tips
- Go just after opening on a weekday to avoid queues of photographers.
- Step aside at the landings; never block the escalator exits.
- Cross the road to Harakado for the rooftop view back over the crossing.
