Ogochi Dam Observation Tower 小河内ダム展望塔
Free observation tower beside Ogochi Dam at Lake Okutama, looking down more than 100 m below the dam on one side and across the reservoir and Okutama mountains on the other.
About
Ogochi Dam, run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Waterworks Bureau, holds back Lake Okutama, one of Tokyo's own water sources. Its observation tower has a diorama of the dam and panels on its history on the 2nd floor and a viewing room on the 3rd floor. East-facing windows look straight down more than 100 m to the foot of the dam, and west-facing windows take in the reservoir and the forested Okutama mountains. It is about 500 m on foot from the Okutama Mizu to Midori no Fureaikan visitor centre.
