About

Stand on the pavement on the opposite side of Ningyocho-dori from the tower and frame it with the street's low buildings and shop signs. At set times through the day the upper doors open and karakuri puppets of Edo firefighters and townspeople perform to music, so a short video or a burst of stills captures it best. Soft late-afternoon light suits the warm-toned wood and brass, and the area around Amazake Yokocho is a short stroll away. It is on a narrow pavement used by locals, so keep out of shop doorways while you wait.
