About
Built in 1631 by Tenkai, founder of Kan'ei-ji, Kiyomizu Kannon-do copies the stage construction of Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto and enshrines a thousand-armed Kannon brought from that temple, shown only one day a year in February. The hall is a National Important Cultural Property. From its veranda you can look through the looped 'Moon Pine' toward Bentendo on Shinobazu Pond, a view Hiroshige painted.
