About

Futako-Tamagawa is where Tokyo meets the wide Tama River, and Hyogojima Park is its riverside living room. The park centres on a small hill and pond at the confluence of the Noge and Tama rivers, with broad grassy banks and gravel bars running down to the water. In summer kids and dogs splash in the shallow Noge River, families barbecue at the riverbed nearby, and on clear winter days you can see Mount Fuji upstream. The Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line rattles across the long bridge above, and the riverside path continues for kilometres in both directions for runners and cyclists. With the shops and cafes of Futako-Tamagawa Rise a few minutes away, it is an easy half-day escape from central Tokyo.
