About

Set on the fifth floor of a building a minute from Ginza Station, HiSUi TOKYO is aimed squarely at visitors who want genuine instruction rather than a photo op. Each module lasts 30–45 minutes and is led by practitioners in English. In sado you learn how to receive and drink matcha and sweets in a tatami tea room; in shodo you practise brush strokes then ink your chosen character on a shikishi board to take home; waso dresses women in kimono with a hair set and men in hakama. The batto (samurai) course has you wear hakama, learn how a samurai carries himself, and handle a sword, ending with a photograph. Kado (ikebana) and nihon buyo dance are also offered. Pricing rewards combinations, so kimono plus tea ceremony is a popular pairing. It is pricier than the Asakusa tourist studios, but groups are small and the teaching is thoughtful, good for first-timers who want context.
