Inside the JR Yamanote gate, follow the passage toward the stairs down to the platforms to find about 40 small, 8 medium and 8 large lockers that take IC cards, coins and 1,000-yen notes. Down at the Toei Mita Line, turn right out of the gate facing the JR station for a long bank of 65 small 400-yen lockers and 2 large ones that take 100-yen coins only. Across the concourse, at the corner of the passage to Exit A2, a bank has 10 mini, 11 small, 5 medium and 5 large lockers with IC payment. Sugamo is the gateway to Jizo-dori, the old-style shopping street nicknamed Grandma's Harajuku, and to the Rikugien garden one stop away at Komagome.
