Cinema City (Cinema Two) シネマシティ(シネマ・ツー)
Independent Tachikawa cinema famed for its sound: engineers tune each screening, and special 'extreme sound' shows draw fans from across Tokyo.
About
Cinema City runs two buildings in Tachikawa: Cinema One, Tokyo's first multiplex and a THX-certified theatre, and Cinema Two, built around its KIC Real Sound System. Its 'Gokujo Onkyo' and 'Gokujo Bakuon' screenings, with sound tuned for each film, have a cult following. Time Out Tokyo calls it home to the best acoustics in Japan. Foreign films are normally screened in the original language with Japanese subtitles (look for 字幕 on the schedule, not 吹替 = dubbed); Japanese films are usually shown without English subtitles.
