About
Toyotomi Hidetsugu built Hachimanyama Castle in 1585 and laid out the merchant town of Omi-Hachiman below. A 4-minute ropeway from near Himure Hachimangu climbs to stone walls, the Zuiryuji temple moved to the honmaru, and views over Lake Biwa and the reed beds. Continued 100 Fine Castles.
