About

Hachiman-bori was the commercial artery of Omihachiman, the home town of the Omi merchants, until the early Showa era. White-walled storehouses, stone landings and willow and cherry trees line the water. It appears often in period dramas and films. Traditional boat rides run along the canal, and the preserved Shinmachi merchant street is next to it.
