About
Kawagoe prospered as a supplier to Edo, and its merchants built fireproof kura storehouses that survive along Ichibangai. The few-hundred-metre street is lined with shops selling sweet-potato sweets, crafts and pickles, and the Toki no Kane bell tower stands a block away. Japan Guide covers it as Kawagoe's top sight.
