About
Jinaimachi grew up in the 16th century around the Koshoji Betsuin temple and became a prosperous merchant town. Its grid of narrow streets keeps many tiled-roof townhouses, including the Former Sugiyama House, a national Important Cultural Property that is open to visitors. The Jinaimachi Koryukan exchange centre provides maps, a rest area and local information.
