Tenmabashi Bridge 天満橋
One of the Three Great Bridges of Naniwa over the Okawa River, a 1935 steel Gerber bridge by the Hachikenya landing and Osaka's river cruise pier.
About
Tenmabashi is the easternmost of the three great Edo-period bridges of Naniwa, together with Tenjinbashi and Naniwabashi, and was once the landing for Kyoto-Osaka riverboats at Hachikenya-hama. The present steel bridge, opened in 1935, was counted with Tokyo's Ryogoku and Kototoi bridges as one of Japan's three great Gerber bridges. Today it overlooks the Hachikenya pier where Aqua Liner and other river cruises depart, the Okawa promenade lined with cherry trees, and Osaka Castle's park area a short walk south-east.
