Kawasaki Bridge 川崎橋
A slender cable-stayed footbridge over the Okawa River, part of the cycle path from Nakanoshima to Expo Park and a great spot for Osaka Castle-area cherry blossom.
About
Kawasaki-bashi opened in 1978 on the site of the old Kawasaki ferry, and won the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Tanaka Prize for its elegant single-tower cable-stayed design. Only 3 m wide and reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, it carries the Osaka-Suita cycle path that runs from Nakanoshima to Expo'70 Commemorative Park. In early April the banks below are lined with the cherry trees of the Okawa (Kema Sakuranomiya Park) and the bridge is one of the best places to look down on them and the river boats.
