About
Tazaemon Bridge crosses the Dotonbori canal one block east of Ebisubashi and is less crowded while offering similar views of the illuminated signs. Its name dates to the Edo period, when it served the theatres along the canal; the wooden bridge was rebuilt by local people after wartime bombing and the current span dates from 1958. The Tombori River Cruise departs from the pier below.
Highlights
- Neon canal views with fewer crowds than Ebisubashi
- Tombori River Cruise pier
- Edo-period name linked to the theatre district
Tips
- Stand mid-span after dark for symmetrical shots of the canal.
