About

Hirakata Park began in 1912 as a chrysanthemum doll exhibition by the Keihan railway and grew into a full amusement park with about 40 rides. Its signature is the Elf, a wooden roller coaster, alongside a Ferris wheel, a flying carpet, haunted house and plenty of kids rides. Seasonal events change the park through the year: a rose garden of about 600 varieties blooms in May and October, there are pools in summer, and winter brings an ice rink and illuminations. Locals know it for its tongue-in-cheek ad campaigns. It is cheaper and far less crowded than USJ, and easy to reach on the Keihan line.
