Daisen Park 大仙公園
A large park beside Daisen Kofun in Sakai, with a beautifully kept Japanese garden, a tea house, the Sakai City Museum and several smaller kofun among the lawns and cherry trees.
About
Daisen Park spreads across about 38 hectares south of the giant Daisen Kofun, with smaller kofun dotted among its lawns and woods. Its Japanese Garden, built in 1989, is one of the finest modern gardens in Kansai: a pond-centred stroll garden with waterfalls, a stone bridge, a dry landscape and teahouses where you can take matcha. The park also contains the Sakai City Museum, the Sakai City Peace Tower, a tourist information centre with bicycle rental, and about 1,000 cherry trees. It is the natural base for exploring the Mozu kofun on foot or by bicycle.
