About

The Museum of Kyoto presents Kyoto's history and culture from the Heian capital to modern times, with rotating displays and a film theatre showing classic Japanese cinema. Its Annex, the former Bank of Japan Kyoto branch, is a red-brick Important Cultural Property that is free to enter. A row of shops and restaurants in a recreated machiya lane sits on the ground floor. Special exhibitions change through the year.
