About
Rokkakudo takes its name from its six-sided main hall and is the 18th temple of the Saigoku Kannon pilgrimage. Its priests founded Ikenobo, Japan's oldest ikebana school, whose headquarters tower next door. A stone in the grounds, the 'heso-ishi', is said to mark the centre of Kyoto, and white swans live in the pond.
