About

Spring Valley Brewery takes its name from Japans first commercial brewery, founded in Yokohama in 1870, whose lineage Kirin claims. Its Kyoto outpost occupies a beautifully restored machiya townhouse on Tominokoji-dori at the edge of Nishiki Market, with brewing tanks visible inside and a menu of beers that use Kyoto touches such as yuzu, sansho and Uji tea, served with a pairing food menu. It is a comfortable, family-friendly way to try Japanese craft beer during a day around Nishiki.
