About

Kyoto Brewing Co. was founded in spring 2015 by Ben, Paul and Chris, three friends who met in Aomori in 2005, and it built its name on Belgian-yeast styles and modern hop-forward beers that win awards across Japan. The taproom beside the brewery in an industrial corner of Minami-ku is refreshingly low-key: a few tables, standing space by the tanks and outdoor seats on sunny days, with a rotating board of fresh beers. It celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025, and in autumn 2026 opened a new Tap Stand in central Kyoto.

Tips

• Opening days are limited (mainly weekends): check Instagram before going
• About 15 minutes walk from Kyoto Station, or 5 minutes from Tobakaido Station
• Try a flight to compare the Belgian and hoppy lines
• The newer Tap Stand in Nakagyo is more central
