About

Fukuchiyama Castle was founded around 1579 by Akechi Mitsuhide, the general who later turned on Oda Nobunaga. The keep was rebuilt in 1986 with funds from local citizens and now houses a local history museum. Its stone walls incorporate old gravestones and lanterns reused during construction. The castle is part of the 'Continued Top 100 Japanese Castles' list, and stamps are kept at reception.
