About
Enko-ji began as a school founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu and later served as a training hall for Zen nuns. Its main garden, seen from the hall, is one of Kyoto's best-known autumn views. The grounds also include a bamboo grove and a hillside cemetery with views over the city. Outside the autumn peak it is relatively peaceful.
