About

Katori Jingu enshrines Futsunushi-no-Okami, a warrior deity, and with nearby Kashima Jingu has long been revered by samurai and martial artists. Its main hall, rebuilt in 1700, is an Important Cultural Property with striking black lacquer and gold details. A forested approach lined with stone lanterns leads to the precinct, and the Treasure Hall displays a National Treasure bronze mirror.
