Inage Beach (Inage Seaside Park) いなげの浜
Japans first artificial beach, renovated with pale white sand and palm-style resort facilities, where Chiba City runs a lifeguarded swimming season and sunsets glow over Tokyo Bay toward Fuji.
About
Inage no Hama opened in 1976 as Japans first man-made beach and is the centrepiece of Inage Seaside Park in Chiba city. A recent renovation added imported white sand, a beachfront restaurant and terrace, glamping and a seaside boardwalk, giving it an unexpectedly resort-like look 40 minutes from Tokyo. In summer (about mid-July to end of August) a 400 m section opens for supervised swimming with showers and changing rooms. On clear evenings the sun sets over the bay with Mount Fuji on the horizon, and the white sand and wooden pier make it a popular photo spot.
