About
Owada Sushi is the name that comes up first when Beppu locals are asked where to eat sushi. A short walk from JR Beppu Station in Kitahama, it is a classic town sushi shop with a counter and tables, known for generous toppings and the jizakana (local fish) nigiri set, which features Oitas branded seki-saba mackerel and seki-aji horse mackerel, line-caught in the fast currents of the Bungo Channel off Saganoseki. Lunch is popular and reasonably priced; dinner is more relaxed.
