Not to be confused with the prefectural OPAM, the Oita City Art Museum sits on a hill in Uenogaoka Park south of the station. Its collection centres on Bungo nanga literati painting, including works by Tanomura Chikuden designated Important Cultural Properties, alongside modern and contemporary art by local artists. A large elephant sculpture greets visitors at the entrance.
