Oita Station has around 150 JR Kyushu lockers, most of them in the passage by the Oita City Tourist Information Center, plus banks at the Funai Central and Ueno-no-mori exits. A transfer stop for Beppu, Yufuin and the airport bus.

Oita is the prefectural capital's hub, with JR Kyushu trains to Beppu (about 10 minutes) and Yufuin, and buses to Oita Airport. JR Kyushu lists 61 small, 78 medium, 3 large and 15 extra-large lockers here, mostly lined up outside the gates along the passage next to the Oita City Tourist Information Center. More banks in the JR Oita City station building at the Funai Central Exit (including suitcase-size units) and at the Ueno-no-mori Exit by the ATMs accept Suica-type IC cards as well as cash. Prices follow the JR Kyushu standard scale.

Tips

• Large units are few; go for extra-large if you have a full-size case
• Day count changes at midnight
• Beppu Station is only 10 minutes away if you'd rather store bags closer to the onsen
• Most lockers are cleared after 3 days and the contents go to the station lost-property office, so don't use them for multi-day storage
