About

Oita calls itself 'Onsen-ken' (hot spring prefecture), and it makes its point immediately: just after you leave the domestic arrivals gate, a small foot bath of genuine free-flowing hot spring water delivered from Beppu welcomes you. Since 2022 the area has been redesigned with a futuristic spaceship interior, nodding to the airport's plan to host horizontal-launch space flights. It's tiny, so sometimes you'll wait for a spot, but it's a lovely way to spend 15 minutes before boarding or while waiting for the Airliner.
