About

Tateishi Park is little more than a car park, a few benches and a rocky shore, but the view is famous. The tall standing rock (tateishi) with pines on top rises from the sea, and on clear days Mount Fuji appears behind it across Sagami Bay. Utagawa Hiroshige depicted the spot in his prints, and today photographers gather at sunset, especially in winter. A small sandy beach and rocky shelves on either side are good for tide pools.
