About
Opened in 2018 with Kanjo 2-go road (Kan-ni-dori), Tsukiji Ohashi is a 245 m, three-span half-through arch bridge. Because the deck is so wide, its two arch ribs lean outward at about 14 degrees with no cross-bracing overhead, which gives it a light, open look. It is the last bridge before the Sumida meets Tokyo Bay, so the footpaths give views upriver to Kachidoki Bridge and downstream toward Hama-rikyu Gardens and the bay.
Highlights
- Sumida's most downstream bridge (opened 2018)
- Leaning twin-arch design with no overhead bracing
- Views of Kachidoki Bridge and the Tsukiji riverside
- Close to Hama-rikyu Gardens and Tsukiji Outer Market
Tips
- Combine with the Tsukiji Outer Market in the morning, then walk across toward Kachidoki.
- The Kachidoki riverside terrace gives a good side-on view of the arch.
- It is a wide road bridge: expect heavy traffic.
