Tokyo Dome 東京ドーム

The 'Big Egg', home of the Yomiuri Giants, Japan's most storied baseball team. A Japanese pro baseball game here, trumpets, coordinated chants, beer girls with backpack kegs, is a classic Tokyo night out.

About

Tokyo Dome opened in 1988 as Japan's first domed stadium, with an air-supported roof and 43,500 seats for baseball. The NPB season runs from late March to early October (postseason into late October); the Giants play around 70 home games here. The cheering culture is the attraction: each team's ouendan leads trumpets and songs for every batter, and in the seventh inning fans release balloons (when permitted). Beer vendors run up and down the stands with kegs on their backs. Off-season, the Dome hosts concerts by Japan's biggest acts and international tours, and the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is next door.
