About

The Yazawa River has cut a 10 m-deep, 1 km-long valley through Setagaya's residential plateau, and walking down the steps from Todoroki Station feels like stepping into the countryside. A riverside path leads past mossy banks and springs to the Fudo-no-taki waterfall, where pilgrims once purified themselves, then up stairs to Todoroki Fudoson, a temple founded over 1,000 years ago with a maple-shaded terrace. Along the way are Kofun-period cave tombs and the Setsugekka teahouse serving matcha and amazake. The path was closed from 2023 due to the risk of falling trees, and reopened in March 2026 after safety work.
