About

Opened in 1958, Tama Zoological Park covers a wooded hillside in Hino and is far roomier than Ueno Zoo. Animals are grouped by region (Asia, Africa, Australia) in moated enclosures rather than cages. The Lion Bus drives visitors through the lion enclosure, and the insect house with its butterfly greenhouse is a highlight for families.
