About
The pond was the heart of Ikutoku-en, the garden of the Maeda lords' Edo mansion, now inside the University of Tokyo's Hongo campus. Its wooded banks and stepping stones became famous as the setting of Soseki's 1908 novel. Visitors can enter the campus freely and combine it with the Akamon gate and Yasuda Auditorium.
